Residents and cycling enthusiasts in Hunterdon County are being called upon to contribute their insights and experiences to shape the future of biking in the area. The county is seeking input on existing routes, safety, comfort levels, and potential new trails and facilities.
Community members can engage directly with planners at upcoming workshops designed to gather public opinion. The first event will take place at the North County Branch Library on May 28th from 4-7 pm. A second workshop is scheduled during the Flemington Farmland Bike Ride luncheon on June 8th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Flemington Jewish Community Center. The final session will be held at the Hunterdon County Fairgrounds in East Amwell on June 17th from 4-7 pm.
The aim of these workshops is to develop a comprehensive Bicycle Plan that builds on existing infrastructure, including bicycle lanes and trails such as the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath. “The plan will connect residents and visitors with education, job opportunities, healthcare and social services, healthy lifestyles, and the county’s vast cultural and recreational opportunities,” according to organizers.
Public participation is deemed crucial for crafting a successful plan that meets community needs. Residents are encouraged to share this invitation with others who might be interested in contributing their perspectives.
