Medicare beneficiaries who are enrolled in the Extra Help program may be wondering what benefits they will receive. The Extra Help program, also known as Medicare Prescription Assistance, is designed to help eligible individuals pay for their prescription drug costs.

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, “If you qualify for Extra Help, you’ll get help paying for your Medicare drug plan’s monthly premium, yearly deductible, and prescription copayments or coinsurance.” This assistance can significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses for those with limited income and resources.

Extra Help provides support specifically with costs related to Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. The level of assistance depends on an individual’s income and assets. Those who qualify typically pay lower premiums and deductibles and have reduced copayments at the pharmacy.

To learn more about eligibility requirements and how to apply for Extra Help, beneficiaries can visit the official Medicare website or contact their local Social Security office.
