The Sparta Trails Committee announced on April 15 that it has installed two new trail information signs, funded by the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program and the PSEG Foundation. The signs have been placed at the Younkers Landing trailhead off Holland Circle and at the Sparta Glen parking area off Glen Road.
According to the committee, these signs are intended to help hikers plan their visits more effectively by providing details about trail routes, distances, and difficulty levels. The initiative aims to improve safety and accessibility for both residents and visitors who use Sparta’s trails each year.
A statement from the Sparta Trails Committee, Environmental Commission, and Green Team said: “We are incredibly grateful to the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program, funded by PSEG, for their generous support of the Sparta Glen Trail signage project.” The statement continued: “This project is a meaningful step forward in enhancing safe, accessible outdoor recreation for our community and the many visitors who explore Sparta each year.”
The committee also acknowledged ongoing efforts by its partners. “We truly appreciate the continued commitment of the PSEG Foundation and the Sustainable Jersey Grants Program to initiatives that support sustainability, public health, and the preservation of our natural resources,” they said.
Looking ahead, local officials hope these improvements will encourage more people to enjoy outdoor activities while supporting environmental stewardship in Sparta.
