Fear is powerful enough to keep us from living our best lives

Fear is powerful enough to keep us from living our best lives. Fear feeds stagnation, and many people live in self-made prisons of their own fears. When we are consumed by far, we stop thinking, our blood pressure and heart rate increase, and even our digestion stops. Fear can cause physical and emotional pain and illness due to its effects on the body and mind.

PRACTICE RELEASING YOUR FEARS:

1. Acknowledging your fears by writing them down or  speaking them out loud

2. Identify the reasons your fears may not be true - ask yourself the question "is this true?" Is your fear rooted in fact or your thoughts?

3. Ask yourself "What would I be without this thought/fear?" Would I feel happy? Would I have more energy?

4. Ask, "Can I release this fear now?" even if only for a short time

5. Close your eyes, take several deep breaths, and visualize holding your fears in your outstretched hands as though you are holding a songbird. Take one more deep breath as you exhale release the bird into the sky and watch it fly away. Stay with this moment as you feel your fears leave you, if only for a short time. You can return to this practice as many times as you need to.
